Hello,

This is you're early warning email that it's nearly Christmas.... and that
means the infamous Ceilidhsoc Christmas Ceilidh is almost upon us so clear
your diaries... it'll be busy so get there early, details below:

Christmas Ceilidh
8:30 - late
Fri 10th December
This year's Christmas Ceilidh will feature the irrepresible Glory Strokes
doing their folk/metal thing with expert caller Gordon Potts at Sheffield
Royal Society for the Blind's Hall. Expect it to be Loud. In contrast,
we'll be entertained by some medeival singing during the break from
Trobairitz.

The 2nd Sheffield contra:

Contra combines the familiar figures of ceilidh or barn dancing in smooth,
flowing sequences with the improvisational element of Swing to produce an
energetic, fun, social dance form that's easy to learn.

You don't need to bring a partner, there will be loads to choose from.
Each dance is first taught by the caller and then called continuously as
it is danced.

WHEN: Friday 3 Dec (THIS FRIDAY!!). Intro to contra Workshop at 8pm, dance
proper starts at 9.

WHERE: Stephenson Hall of Residence, Oakholme Road, Sheffield.

HOW MUCH: Admission is £4 waged/£3 unwaged (student). With a £1
discount if you show up for the workshop before 8:30

WHO: Live band featuring CeilidhSoc regulars Ian Roberts and Charley
Fox and all the way from Cambridge, caller Andrew Swaine.
