Hello,

The new term is almos upon us, so to keep you up to date heres whats
happening:

* Music workshops *

The CeilidhSoc music workshops have restarted and will take place every
Tuesday at 7.30pm. The workshops involve learning ceilidh/session tunes by
ear (although sheet music is available) and looking at interesting stuff to
do with the tune once you've learnt it. We look at different tunes each
week, so you don't have to come every week to be able to participate.

Venues for this term are:

25th January: Octagon Meeting room 3
1st February: Octagon Meeting room 3
8th February: no workshop (no venue available)
15th February: Octagon Meeting room 2
22nd February: Octagon Meeting room 2
1st March: Octagon Meeting room 2
8th March: no workshop (no room available)
15th March: no workshop (because it's the CeilidhSoc AGM - more details to
follow)

All rooms are in the Octagon Centre, down the stairs opposite the main doors
and along the corridor through the doors on the left.

* Play for a ceilidh *

Most of the bands that play for CeilidhSoc ceilidhs are scratch bands made
up of CeilidhSoc members. We're always on the lookout for musicians to play
in the bands, so if you would like to play or find out more about what it
involves (though the short answer is turning up to a band practice a few
days before the ceilidh and being fed free beer on stage), e-mail
charley at ceilidhsoc.org

* Pub pub pub! *

Also the regular Tuesday night pub music sessions continue (all year
round); a laid back tunes, beer and fun session in the red house pub (see
www.ceilidhsoc.org for map) from 9ish onwards.

* IVFDF *

A reminder that the monies for the discounted early-bird rate for IVFDF
have to be with me tomorrow. Slightly more expensive rates will be
available at the February ceilidhs - so don't think that you have missed
the boat if you still want to go.

Early-bird Concessions (students, those claiming benefits through
unemployment and those over the age of 65) tickets are £13 for the
festival + £8 for the coach

Early-bird Waged tickets are £20 for the festival + £14 for the
coach.....

After tomorrow simply add £2 to the cost of the festival tickets...I
will still take your bookings.

Seperate cheques should be made payable to "IVFDF 2005" and "Sheffield
Union of Students" for tickets and the coach respectively. - You still
have time to send me cheques first class post!

Sunday before 9pm.
