* Social! *

We are planning on having a Ceilidhsoc Social on Thursday 3rd March
(apologies for the short notice but the email system has been very
confused of late). The plan is a non-session based social meet up that
anyone
can attend (no need to play instruments or anything!).

We'll be meeting in Bar1 (Sheffield Students Union) at 8.30 on Thursday.
We'll try and be near the bar and there will be people wearing Ceilidhsoc
T-shirts so you'll be able to spot us. The plan is to do a bit of a pub
crawl, possibly ending up in Fuzz Club.

Non-students are welcome but will need to be signed into the union; if
you're in this position give Ceri a ring on 07754 522235.

Come along it'll be a laugh!

* AGM *
Do you want to get more involved in the running of ceilidhsoc? All roles
on the current committee will be up for grabs at the annual AGM which is
being held on Tuesday 15th March in the Council Chanmbers. The AGM is open
to all ceilidhsoc members and gives YOU a real chance to get involved in
running YOUR society (it also looks pretty good on you're CV). Please
speak to anyone on the committee if you're interested and want to find out
more about what is involved. The current ceilidhsoc committee and their
roles can be found here:

http://www.ceilidhsoc.org/committee.html

* 3rd Sheffield contra *

Contra combines the familiar figures of ceilidh or barn dancing in smooth,
flowing sequences with the improvisational element of Swing to produce an
energetic, fun, social dance form that's easy to learn.

You don't need to bring a partner, there will be loads to choose from.
Each dance is first taught by the caller and then called continuously as
it is danced.

WHEN: Friday 11 March (a week on friday). Intro to contra Workshop at 8pm,
dance proper starts at 9.

WHERE: Stephenson Hall of Residence, Oakholme Road, Sheffield.

HOW MUCH: Admission is £5 waged/£3 unwaged (student).
With a £1 discount if you show up for the workshop before 8:30

WHO: Live band featuring CeilidhSoc regulars Ian Roberts and Charley Fox
with Elmo, Grace and John Brown calling

More information at www.aphelia.co.uk/contra or phone Grace on 01663

See you tomorrow,

Owain.
