Hi everybody!

Hope you are all well and not melting in the exam-time heat! Not long to
go now, surely...

And what better way to cool out after your tests and essay deadlines that
with some hot music!

Fantastic fiddle player and personal friend of mine, Dr Lindsay
Aitkenhead, infoms us all of the following! Check it!

--------------------------------------------------------------
Sheffield based band East Handed are to play at the Hush Bar on Division
Street, Sheffield on Wednesday 21st June and Wednesday 19th July from
9:00pm till late. Entry is free.

East Handed are celebrating a new monthly residency at the Hush Bar in
central Sheffield, with the first two dates confirmed as Wednesday 21st
June and Wednesday 19th July. East Handed are a Sheffield based duo who
play an exciting and vibrant fusion of Klezmer, Jazz and Celtic music.
The heart of the band is Lindsay Aitkenhead, on wild, evocative and
high-energy fiddle, and her partner Richard Neale, playing a mean and
funky six-string bass. The music is jazzy, sophisticated, and highly
danceable. East Handed will be welcoming a range of talented guests over
the summer months, starting with Sheffield’s own amazing Serbian singer,
Vesna Panic, who will be performing with East Handed on July 19th.

East Handed are launching Hush Bar’s new season of live music. Lindsay
said “This is a wonderful opportunity to play and hear some very unusual
music right in the centre of Sheffield. There is a huge reaction against
processed, recorded and computerised music at the moment. Even Bruce
Springsteen is playing folk! And Sheffield as a city has always been full
of amazing musical talent – people who have been busy touring elsewhere in
Britain and all over Europe but rarely in their home town.” And she
should know, as by day Lindsay runs a project called The Musical Works,
involving eighty or so musicians who give workshops in world and popular
music styles for young people all over the city. You can also hear her
fiddling on the Big Eyes Family Players CD Do the Musiking, which was
released on Pickled Egg Records last month.
