Hi,

sorry about the rather long email, but lots of things to do to keep warm
through the horrible weather:

firstly, tomorrow, in the place of the usual beginners' folk music
workshop, professional music teacher Cath James is teaching the workshop.
It's aimed at people who have a basic ability to play their instument, but
have little or no experience of playing folk music, and suitable for any
melody instrument. 7.30 in Octagon meeting room 3. Tickets £1 from the
union box office (if you don't have a ticket you'll be able to just turn
up as long as it's not full).

Ceilidh time again - this time the ceilidh is at RANMOOR HALL OF
RESIDENCE, featuring a ceilidhsoc band and callers Tref and John. Starts
at 8.30pm, £2 for members before 9, £3 after or £2.50 with a flyer, £4 for
non-members or £3 to join.

Before the ceilidh there will be a FREE guitar workshop with Peter
Rophone, starting at 7.15. Just turn up (with a guitar).

and finally, the fantastic Inter Varsity Folk Dance Festival is
approaching again! The festival moves around different universities (2003
was Sheffield), this year it's at UEA, Norwich. A weekend packed with
ceilidhs, workshops, displays, concerts, and apparently a 12 hour ceilidh
marathon... (I don't think you have to go for the whole 12 hours
though...) All the details are at http://www.ivfdf2005.org/. There will
be some flyers at the next ceilidh. As usual, ceilidhsoc will be taking a
coach (the journey itself can be quite something, with singing, sessions,
even a bit of dancing...)

Ceri (because Owain's away with work)

p.s. don't forget the weekly social at the Red House pub on Solly Street,
Tuesdays from about 9pm
